Leslie Oberst
You see a toilet paper roll – Leslie Oberst sees what a child sees: a rocket ship. As a stay-at-home mom, she converted her living room into an art studio for neighborhood kids and put her Engineering degree toward discovering 101 uses for empty egg cartons and the power of the baby wipe to clean up the messes kids make with paints, glue, and markers. Specializing in road-tested, no-fail craft projects for toddlers and preschoolers, Leslie is excited to expand her living room art laboratory to the ArtBeast classrooms.
Classes
Retro Crafts - Remember making guitars from cereal boxes and rubber bands? Flying saucers with paper plates? Together we will build them. At each class, students create a keepsake craft project. We will explore all art media including tempura paints, watercolors, chalk, glue and clay. We use scissors, stickers, paint brushes, string, fingers and toes – and there isn’t much that googly eyes won’t improve! This class is an opportunity for children to practice focus and fine motor skills, as well as a time to build confidence, make messes and have fun.
